Vegan "Bone Broth" Recipe - With Collagen!
Vegan "Bone Broth" Recipe - With Collagen!
Bone Broth has experienced a remarkable surge in popularity in recent years, often praised for its potential health benefits and nutritional properties. Bone broth is a hearty broth conventionally created by simmering animal bones, meat, and optionally vegetables for an extended period. This process extracts nutrients, gelatine, and flavor from the bones and meat, resulting in a rich, savory liquid.
Many actresses and models praise bone broth as a "beauty source" or an "immune booster," primarily attributing these benefits to the one of the ingredients that is released through the prolonged cooking: Collagen - a structural protein that forms the basic framework of many tissues in the human body. However, collagen levels decrease with age, which naturally leads to signs of aging. Bone broth is seen as a way to externally supply collagen to the body, and work like a fountain of youth.
However, for many, the concept of bone broth may not sound appealing, or they may wish to avoid the use of animal products for ethical or health reasons. Therefore, we wondered: Is there a plant-based, equivalent alternative? 🌱✨
Vegan bone broth recipe
In this recipe, we explore an innovative vegan version of "Bone Broth" that captures the delicious flavors and hearty depth of classic broth while entirely avoiding animal ingredients. By using Vegan Collagen (or plant-based bone broth powder, if you will), we demonstrate that it's possible to experience the unique taste and nutrient density of "Bone Broth" in an entirely plant-based broth. For this recipe, we've combined a variety of rich vegetables, mushrooms, and spices that not only create a particularly savory taste but also provide the perfect nutrient mix.
Now, we'll show you how to prepare this delicious broth at home!
Preparation
Start by finely chopping onion, garlic, and ginger. Peel the carrot and cut the spinach into fine pieces. Next, clean and halve the mushrooms - this way, all the vegetables we're going to use are already prepared.
In the next step, heat a pot with coconut oil and sauté the vegetables in it. After the ingredients have been slightly sautéed, you can deglaze everything with water and add turmeric and vegan collagen, letting it simmer for about 15 minutes.
You can now add the broccoli and rice noodles. Once the vegetables are cooked, stir in the spinach and season the broth with nutritional yeast flakes, salt, and pepper.
We recommend serving the broth with tofu and cress. It's a truly deeply satisfying delight! 🍜
